The great houses are the nobility of the Isles. It is rumoured that each Great House holds the secret to one college of magic - other locals use little magic, apart from Rune/Shaman magics.

House Amandio and Retainers

House Amandio is the primary house of Insel der Freiheit and controls the Umshatar province. Bamballio was chosen by Manius Atilius Freiheit (King of the Isles) to be his heir as he had only sired daughters but has since ceded kingship to Granius Gallus Fabia the old Kings Grandson. In terms of wealth, power and position few other houses are able to compete with Amandio. They may be Sorcerors and were one of the Houses involved in the Civil War.

House Apollonius and Retainers

The house controls the desolate province of Serawak.

House Dioges and Retainers

This house controls the Pontaningal province, the most matriarchal of the Houses.

House Fabia and Retainers

House Fabia is a prestigious line that can be traced back to the original shipwreck. Calerusa is the old Kings Eldest Daughter and current regent for her son Granius Gallus Fabia. The house controls the Mercato province. They are probably Enchanters.

House Mithridates and Retainers

The house controls the Tidoengsche province.

House Nicoteles and Retainers

The house controls the Dajak province.

House Orthrus and Retainers

The house controls the Boeloengan province.

House Paetas and Retainers

House Paetas has the greatest contact with the rest of the world. Heading a huge trading empire they provide shipping to the other princes and control the trade routes to the Dragon Isles and the Eastern Kingdoms from a large port city in their province Tanah Boemboe. They appear to be Air Mages.

House Papiria and Retainers

The house controls the Keisarangan province.

House Philadelphus and Retainers

The house controls the Koetai province.

House Pythion and Retainers

The house controls the Madi province.

House Scipio and Retainers

The house controls the Waringin province.

House Tellatina and Retainers

The house controls the Matan province.

House Voturia and Retainers

From the smoke clouded lands of the Sherazar province this one man house rules with an Iron fist. Believed to be several hundred years old,the Prince has maintained an uneasy truce with the other houses.
