Madi is a landlocked province on the western side of the Island. The province is bordered to the north by Serawak, and the west by Pontaningal and Matan. The southern border is shared with Waringin the east by Dajak and Koetai.
25% of the province is dominated by the Madi Plateau, a region rich in plant and animal life. Here large volumes of rare herbs, roots and animal parts are harvested and sent to the High temple of Balai where the Kinsen prepare and process the ingredients into potions and poultices famed for their healing properties.

Close to Boenoel lies the home of the Balai Kinsen, the holy man of the Balai religion. The Kantagaresh (Main temple of the Balai) is a huge complex housing several thousand Kinsen (Disciples) who train in both martial and mental prowess.

House Pythion is somewhat in decline in recent years, the current Prince is known to be in frail health and suffers from a speech impediment. Some in the province believe he should be replaced by his son but the Balai Kinsen is a strong supporter of Auxentius and the grumblings have so far come to naught.
