Things are rotten near Southgate in Ranke.

I'll add brief notes which are to be fleshed out when scribe is up to it.

Session 1 - Meet, Greet and travel northwards

Introductions, Travel to Fort Flowing and up the river to Southgate. Explore Orchards, identify Water Source issue, meet apothecary, travel into hills, meet a hillsman (bro of apothecary), camp overnight, travel into hollow, get Goat attacked and almost killed.

Session 2 - Explore and battle the goblins

Get out of the bowl, scout around, hunt down the target, close on target, engage goblins, victorious, gain a monkey and loot.

Session 3 - Into the copse and fight the 4 Ogres and a Black Annis Hag

Into the copse and fight the 4 Ogres and a Black Annis Hag. E died during the fight after heroically saving me with his healing potion gift. We then rested up and went to the Hag's obfuscated den near a waterfall. We used powerful magic to pierce the protections and entered her lair. We touched the 'waterfall' of strangeness with M's rod of Charm and we enetered another realm.

Session 4 - We check out the other worldly realm and almost fatally encounter a See Hag

We enter the area, checking subtly and gathering items. There are 4 rooms in the area and we manage to safely enter one and loot a very nice Divan and other bits and pieces. The Sand Table in the central area is 12ft x 3ft and depicts an area 70m East of Southgate as a narrow area some 40m wide and shows the various ashgroves in the area. We look at the tower itself (this is some 70ft tall) and look over its walls which are 25ft high cremanated walls with Parapets set 8ft down the wall which means the defenders are very tall. It's a walled compound with crimson sands outside.

All goes well until Haedric (the dwarf) throws some bread at a beaded curtain over a darkened passage making it resonate - soon thereafter followed by the arrival of a See Hag. We barely manage to survive as we take Haedric's unconscious body on my floating divan and flee back to the nearby Ash Grove.

Misc Notes;

  1. The Ash Grove's are all interconnected. The primary effect of the magic is 'Contagion' with a secondary effect of 'Representation'.
  2. The Sand Table was very magical and showed a map of the area encompassing the ash gives and southgate etc. It was richly appointed and had very valuable components of gold, gems and such

Session 5 - Merri's is sucked into the void and an Orc joins the party

We get out of the defile and make it back to the ash grove. The party play with the tarot deck. R and A survive while Merri is sucked into the void and her death. The party go oops!

The nearby orcs appear agitated and the they ambush the 6 goblins dragging a captive orc back towards their main camp. They free the Orc who turns out to be a guild member who was grabbed unawares by the evil goblins. Gnashdar is his name.

The party (now including Gnashdar) take on the 40 goblins and the huge leader who turns out to be an Ogre Magi from the other dimension and they barely win with no new deaths. H is healed by the Melians and promises return and undertake a favour for them.

Session 6 - party returns to civilisation with some hijinks. Also Sanctuary bound.

Party travels back to Southgate and informs the local abbess about issues. She authorises additional pay. The party visits the local herbalist in the hills and the Orc gets some lessons in punishments and perfumery from the Abbess who is quite the disciplinarian it seems! We are headed to Sanctuary next.

Sanctuary is reached after a few days of travel and we end up walking in after leaving the boat a few miles down the coast.

Session 7 - Sanctuary fun and games as well as an exploding tannery

We told the SMG about Merricat's demise and they will appriase the family. We then tracked down Indigo using Greimyth's name and tried to pass on a message but the lady Indigo disavowed all knowledge. we departed and watched the location. Later on we entered and searched the establishment for suspicious materials or illegal activities. We managed to kill Indigo who was revealed to be a Green Hag and free a dozen orcs who were in the process of being drained by her to sustain some illicit evil scheme. We fled the city barely in advance of an exploding tannery of suspicious nature and an incoming storm.

We made it out to sea and then beached our 'borrowed' vessel on an island and looked to last out the storm of the night in the cold and wet conditions and on an unfamiliar island in the Bay.

Session 8 - Recuperate on the island and then report back to the abbess

We stayed on the island for a few days and the storm showed no signs of abating. We were well fed with fish for the period but the smell of things was an issue. We noted again a green and Blue dragon questing across the sky and someone picked up the words 'Jing Wei'. After 2 days we did some divining and I opened the birdcage to look at the lark which sang briefly and then transformed into an oriental women of great beauty which the dragon came for and took away. The storm then abated.

We made haste away from Sanctuary and return by sea to Southgate where we report our progress and results to the Abbess. She is pleased and pays us our due after bestowing some favours upon us. We travel up to the old man in the woods, taking with us our dozen orcs. We leave the orcs to do manual labour for the old man for a few days while we go to the groves and speak with the Melians and also check on the cave. Access to the other-side is impossible without the magic inherent in the staff that Merricat used to have so we leave and return to the old man.
