Knight Defenders of the Eastern Marches Announced
Presumably in-game queries about this should be directed to Wilhelm van Valkenburg, Baron of Eastmarch.
Which GM should queries be directed to?

Ahh... this SGT article is somewhat in error... actually, knowing what paragons of journalistic integrity they employ, it is in equal parts error, misunderstanding and fabrication. But if you want more information please approach Jono (who is not responsible for the article but is dealing with it for at least one player).

So when a fully armed and armoured warrior fresh from the Lunar Winter Games (optimistically assuming we return) turns up at the Seagate Times asking on whose authority they printed this...
Exactly what is their answer? The Baron, the Duke, some underling soon to be volunteered for the front line?

Two Points in regards to this.
- 1 The fort mentioned was a misprint and actually refers to a 'Trading Post' (perhaps to some this would be a 'Fortified Trading post') and most of the work to 'build' this has already been commissioned and planned at no cost to the Knight Defenders'.
- 2 Technically the Duke of Carzala appointed the Knight Defenders, and did so for the following reasons:
- In appreciation of their good work in alleviating another possible battle front and horde of Barbarians being involved in the Dark Circle War
- Giving them some status when they might act as impromptu 'ambassadors' to the Plains Barbarians when they resume their yearly migrations close to Brastor
- Providing some proven, reliable and staunch 'control' in an otherwise reasonably wild area of the frontier
- The building of a more stable trading area was advanced as the best way (in the view of some courtiers) of fostering better relations and enabling a greater variety of goods, trades and services to be offered when the next migrations occur

Duke Leto is normally a smart and astute politician, so let's assume that he did not command Baron Steinhugel of Aladar, Count Ebola, and their equally lethal companions to report to the freshly appointed Baron Eastmarch via a notice in a disreputable guild newsletter.
Exactly which of his over enthusiastic and impolitic courtiers is responsible for this? And what weapon would they like to choose?
Righteous bloodshed aside, a fortified trading post to protect the plainsmen from reprisals over accidents to settlers and patrols that stray too far into the Sea of Grass is an excellent idea.
The exact location will need to be negotiated between the plainsmen and the Carzalans.
Naturally it will be manned by both plainsmen and Carzalan guards so that infractions by people of either side can be dealt with under their own laws.
Granting certain former chiefs of the plainsmen authority over the Carzalans and requesting them to command the outpost might even receive a positive reponse.
Honorary titles to recognise and reward heroic deeds are welcome. Attached responsibilties and lines of command will need to be negotiated.
