Scribe Notes:

I, Jennings, decided to join the adventurer's guild of Seagate. Looking forward to my first adventure; should be fun.

I met the party I would be adventuring with at the guild today, a hill giant by the name of Arden, Lyrus, Marco, Prudence and Daizy. We were informed that we would be working for a Wiccan from Freetown.

We met with our employer, an Elven lady by the name of Irina. She told us our job was to aid her coven in completing some rituals to create some magical robes. Apparently this will entail travelling to other planes, finding and destroying orbs, chasing ogres, and something about dying. I'm not so keen on the prospect of dying, but Irina assured us that it wouldn't be permanent.

The first thing we had to do was meet a Titan called Matt Tumbledown for dinner aboard his ship that evening. Irena payed us 10,000sp in advance; we then met with some of Irina's personal guard, who paid us another 10,000sp in advance, and informed us that we should bring gifts when we met Matt; a crate of Jerky for Matt, a crate of Jerky for his officers, and a third crate for his crew.

Seeing as there was a fair amount of time before evening, we went into Seagate to tidy ourselves up for dinner. First we went to a dress maker's shop to get a dress for Prue, as she looked decidedly shabby. She spent 990sp on having a dress made for her; a hideous price for a garment. While Prue was being fitted and having her dress sown; the rest of us went to buy the jerky for Matt and his crew.

We met up with Prudence again, and having plenty of time to spare, decided to go to the hairdressers. My advice: Don't EVER go to the hairdressers. They killed me; a horrible painful death, too. Just avoid hairdressers.

I was resurrected by a giant on the wharf (who was either a member of Matt's crew, or one of Irina's body guards, it was all a bit hazy). We then went aboard Matt's ship and were met by the first mate. He kindly explained giant customs to us non-giant folk, then gave us a tour of the ship. He presented us with daggers of return; that we could plunge into our hearts, killing us, but returning us to Matt's ship. I think those will be kept for emergencies only.

After everyone that was due for dinner had boarded, the ship set sail for the lake of steam.

Then there was dinner. A dwarven seer by the name of Gwert read some of our futures. Arden is to be mauled by a griffin on the plane of air, Prudence is to be killed by Aim, and Lyrus and Marco will be eaten by centaur women. Dinner was great fun until I dropped dead.

I was resurrected by one of the many healers on the ship, and returned to the party. After dinner, we all went to bed. During the midnight watch we were attacked by shadowy figures. They were beaten off and we went back to bed.

The next day, after breakfast, we were told we would be travelling to another plane to gather some golden sand. As far as I can tell, getting to this plane requires dying over a certain point on the lake of steam. To cut a long story short, we would be catapulted off the ship and torn apart by gargoyles as we flew through the air.

After this was explained to us, we met with Irina; she gave us collars that would carry magical effects over from death. We were told that once we arrived on the other plane, we should go to Irva and meet with an operative. The code words would be ‘the steam is hot.’ The operative was imprisoned on this other plane. To find him we should get ourselves arrested. After we are arrested, we are to help the operative escape, steal a crystal form the guardhouse, then find an orb that the operative had buried somewhere. The orb would allow us to travel to the serpent plane where we would be getting the golden sand.

We were then given a bag of Sand of Escape, told how to use it and then catapulted off the ship.

The entire party was torn apart by gargoyles.

We all arrived in a room, which we left and set off down the road in search of Irva. After several hours of travel we managed to find Irva. After arriving in the city we headed to the nearest bar we could find. Arden assaulted a head of the guard in the bar in attempt to get us arrested, so we could find the guard house.

Unfortunately, the bar owner then cast a mind control spell on us, and we spent five days as slaves. Eventually we worked out that we could burn a certain book that would break this spell. We managed to find the book of enchantment, burn it and escape. After that it didn’t take us long to offend the city guard and we were taken to prison, where we found the operative.

We then ate a pinch of our sand of escape and finger painted the excrement over the prison walls and managed to escape. We collected our items, stole the crystal then went to find the orb. It didn’t take the operative very long to find the orb and we used it to teleport to the serpent plane.

After two days travel on the serpent plane, we came to a clear bottomless lake, and we sailed across to Ulkem. After we spent some time in Ulkem, we began to realise that the people weren’t really human, they were Nagas! Whilst in Ulkem we stayed in little huts. Most of the villagers were fishermen, apparently fishing for pearls. We met the person in Ulkem we were supposed to meet, and gathered the golden sand we were supposed to get.

The next day we were picked up by six humans, who took us back to titan Matt’s ship. Once aboard the ship we met up with titan Matt and Irina, and set off to Freetown. Irina was rather annoyed because some incubi and succubi had run off with some of her understudies.

After we had arrived in Freetown, we went to the witches coven and stayed there. We heard a rumour that the incubi and succubi may have been sent by Earth mages to stop us making the robes. Apparently to make the robes they have to do it in a place of power in the plane of fire. In a place called The Grand Meadows. Unfortunately, the Grand Meadows are filled with orcs and ogres and other such creatures.

Mostly ogres though.

The reason why we, the most incompetent party they could find, are being sent to clear out the ogres is because they have a rod that does large amounts of damage to anyone who is particularly skilled at anything, and is not aligned to the rod. To clear out the ogres, we have to sneak in undetected, grab the rod, and run for it and keep running until the robes have been made.

Normal methods of invisibility will not work, as the rod will negate them. And if they are particularly powerful spells of invisibility, the rod will do great damage to us while we are under their affect. Because of this we have to get invisibility from another plane.

We decided it would be best to hang out with some of the locals that night, and go adventuring tomorrow. We were told that there are many brownies in the witches’ guild, so we thought we’d go visit a brownie. Turned out there was one in our bedroom; so we got to talking, and we gave him something shiny of low value, because brownies like htose sorts of things, and crackers with honey. Well, the brownie was very pleased, and offered something in exchange. Prue thought we should ask for some information on the succubi and incubi. Arden thought we should just squash the brownie because he didn’t like the little bastard. The brownie made some comment about making the giant have a little penis, because the giant had made some rude comment about having a bigger penis. I thought that would be a great idea, so I told the brownie to do it, and he did, because I’d given the most presents and it was me he was going to give the favour to. Arden was not impressed.

The brownie told us that if we wanted to do business with him again, he liked berries, which the earth mages had a plentiful supply of. He then left, leaving me behind with a very angry giant.

We headed down to the local bar to find some earth mages to do business with. Where, of course, Arden caused some trouble. So, spells started being cast. And of course, one of them backfired on me, Marco and Lyrus. Our noses grew warty, our ears elongated. And one of Lyrus’ nipples hung out the bottom of his shirt. We were absolutely hideous. We decided to go find a nice witch who would remove the curses for us. Turned out there was one on the other side of town.

We went to see her, and she removed Lyrus and Marco’s curses. She had a very unfortunate accident when trying to remove Jennings’ curse, turning him into a porcupine prickle covered hermaphrodite… Thing.

When we returned to the bar we found Marco sucking face with an 800 year old troll woman earth mage in an attempt to try and get some berries off her. His attempts were unsuccessful, but Daizy convinced a bard to convice the earth mages to give us some berries.

We then went back to the brownie, and traded the berries and some mead with him in exchange for the giant’s penis being righted and some information on where the understudies were that had been captured by the demons. The brownie told us that he’d send us through a portal at midnight to where the succubi and incubi's camp was so we could rescue the mages. We then went to the wiccans, and they made for us some genital shaped amulets that would make us invisible to the succubi and incubi.

At midnight we returned to our room and the brownie sent us through a shaking wardrobe, into the woods where the demons had made camp.

Ahead of us we could see the demons’ camp, and hear them talking. Icarus Lobben Arch was the leader of the demon party that had captured the understudies. He was a powerful incubus. So we approached the camp stealthily from all sides. This went well, up until a devil saw us; turns out that the genital amulets don’t work on anything other than succubi and incubi. Oops. I was killed, and the rest of the party captured.

They then offered to make us a deal. They would let us, and the underlings hired by the wiccans, go in exchange for us returning the rod of power to the ogres after we’d made our robes. Pretty stupid really, we were going to do that anyway.

We agreed, and went through the portal home to see the brownie sitting on the bed, playing a banjo.

The living party members told Irina briefly of the rescue. Everyone slept, and I was resurrected.

We all got up at four A.M. for breakfast, and had porridge made with gutbusters. Over breakfast we were given further instructions. We had to go to the plane of air to see a djinn called Castaway, with whom trade the golden sand we had retrieved for some bottles of tears that would allow us to make succubi and incubi fall in love with us, so we could lure them to the Shriven Hills; where we can then get the Shrivers to make invisibility potions from the succubi and incubi. These invisibility potions are of course from a different plane, so they will not be effected by the rod that we are going to steal.

After wasting some time we prepared to set off. The Wiccans called forth hundreds of little birds and bats, then they tied silks around us, and the birds and bats carried us away, through a foggy hole to a very stormy place. The elemental plane of Air.

The birds and bats carried us to a floating island covered in a forest of giant mushrooms. A Djinn flew down to us, and introduced himself as Castaway. He said that he would gladly give us the tears for the golden sand. He also said that if we brought him three pieces of lightening, he would give us three wishes. He then told us to meet him back there in sixteen hours, and flew away.

We thought it would be a good idea to get the lightening and trade it for wishes, so we had the birds and bats carry us to some stormy clouds that we could see in the distance. When we arrived there, we saw that massive storm giants were talking and laughing and calling forth lightening, which they would catch and throw at these funny little creatures down on the clouds.

It was fairly obvious that we didn’t want to try and catch the lightening that the giants were throwing. So we told Arden to summon forth some lightening for us. Arden said he had absolutely no idea how, but as he spoke, little sparks of lightening came off the clouds. So, I told him to clap. He clapped.

A huge ball of lightening started forming on the cloud, and it flew towards him. We all scattered, and Arden managed to dodge it. Then I got an idea! I told Arden to clap again, and this time to catch the lightening. And I told anyone else who felt like catching the lightening to do so, and then we would stick it in some bottles.

Arden clapped again, and this time he managed to catch the lightening, but was burnt badly in the process. Lyrus also caught some lightening, and was also burnt badly. We put those two pieces of lightening in bottles, and then realized we didn’t have any more empty bottles. Fortunately, I had a quarter bottle of mead in my bag. I polished off the rest of the mead and supplied the last necessary bottle.

Arden wasn’t keen to clap again to get more lightening. So I thought it would be a good idea if he said a short, single syllable word like ‘bah.’ I told him to say ‘bah,’ and to say it softly. And if it didn’t work to say it again and increase volume slightly until the lightening came to him.

Arden misunderstood. He started off with a quiet ‘baaaaaaa-‘ and continued to build until he saw the lightening start to form. At that point he stopped, because the lightening wasn’t forming in little sparks like when he had clapped. It was building in massive waves, growing bigger and more powerful as they came towards him. Slowly but surely the massive waves of lightening formed into one huge ball of lightening that hurtled towards Arden. The rest of the party scattered, but Arden saw that him trying to run would be completely pointless. Arden was burnt to death, but fortunately, Lyrus managed to catch a small piece of lightening that was trailing behind the massive ball, which we stuck in my empty mead bottle.

As we were standing around Arden’s dead body, not quite sure what to do, a storm giant came up behind me and smashed me with his club, killing me instantly. When he realized that we weren’t killing giants, and were in fact friends of the giant who had died, he was somewhat awed by the fact that Arden was brave enough to summon ‘one of the big ones,’ as he called them. As such, he said that he’d send along a certain witch that he knew, who would resurrect us, then he left. A witch by the name of Arnoc resurrected Arden and I in exchange for either: a year and a day's service, a bottle of leprechaun tears, or a bowl of unicorn mane sweat - to be paid at a later, unspecified time.

The birds and bats carried us back to the Djinn’s island, and we traded the golden sand for the vials of tears, and the three bottles of lightening for three wishes. We wished for uncapped fatigue, resistance to stun, and the ability to terrify ogres. The Djinn granted our wishes, gave us the tears, and the birds and bats carried us back to Alusia.

Unfortunately the trip back to Alusia took about a week because the birds and bats got lost. Useless little shits.

Back in Freetown, while we were sitting around in the witches guild, a small group of ogres attacked. Needless to say, because the ogres were attacking the front gate of the witches guild, they died. Horribly. Fifteen hellfires will do that.

While we were looting their bodies, Marco accidentally set off a windwalk bracelet worn by one of our enemies, and flew at great speed out the main Wiccan gate, and was killed by numerous traps and wards. It turned out our aggressors were sent by a devil, an underling of Foras. We then wasted a huge amount of time interrogating these ogres about their bosses dwellings. In the end we just ransomed them back to their employer for 8,000sp, a set of armour Arden liked, and a sword made from an imp.

We then met with Irina, who told us we would be heading off to charm the succubi and Incubi, and lure them to the Shrivers. We met with a brownie, who put a curse on us to prevent us having sex; that was so powerful that could only be removed by the Shrivers. That way when the Incubi and Succubae wanted to sleep with us, we had an excuse not to, and to go see the Shrivers.

Once cursed an prepared, went through a portal that came out near the succubae and incubi. We took the charm potions for them, and entered the demons’ camp. The succubi and incubi fell madly in love with us, and took us off to a safe little cave of theirs. Where, ironically, Arden was attacked by a spectral warrior. We explained our horrible plight to the succubae and incubi, who agreed to help us to the Shrivers so we could have our curse removed and so they could have their way with us. We then cast instilled flight on some logs, and flew to Ulrich’s tower, which was halfway to Orctown, which was on the way to the Shriven Hills. Ulrich kindly gave us a map of the area, and we headed off to see the sheriff of Orctown, Grobbinbonk.

Grobbinbonk took us through a Rune portal to Orctown. It wasn’t long before we found a guide to take us to the Shriven Hills. We then purchased the guide, who was a small goblin. Arden was very proud to be the owner of a goblin.

As we headed towards the Shriven hills, we were assaulted by griffins. The griffins carried off Prue, Jennings, and two of the succubae. The rest of the party used instil flight scrolls to fly over and rescue us. Arden very bravely slew two griffins.

After the rescue mission, we carried on our way to the Shrivers, and bumped into some very helpful dwarves. Who gave us food, weapons, and offered to fly us to the Shrivers on their pet griffins, in exchange for 100 gold.

We accepted the dwarves offer, and arrived near the Shrivers the next day. We followed a path up the mountain and came to a cavern built by the Shrivers, and we sat down and had our lunch. While we were eating, a blind woman came and fetched us. She took us to a waiting room. After waiting for a while, an old man and a young woman came to meet us to talk about removing our curses.

The Shrivers removed out curses and a few other things, and shrived the otherworldly invisibility from the Incubi and Succubi. A few days later when the Shrivers had finished shriving everything off us, they cast shadow wings upon us and we tried to fly back to the dwarves. Unfortunately, on the way back, we were decimated by griffins, and a mountain.

Arden, Prue and Daizy were the only ones to survive. Fortunately they managed to get in touch with the dwarves using magical contact spells, I think. The dwarves came and picked us up on the griffins. They also tracked down my body, the goblin guide’s body, and Arden’s body. Lyrus managed to get himself lost and fly back to Grobbinbonk’s tower.

Stupid fucking pen ran out of ink. Thankfully Daizy had a pencil, very handy.

We rested up at the dwarves place for about a week. Whilst there I grew a sixth finger on each hand. The dwarves took us back to Grobbinbonk’s tower, and Grobbinbonk took us back through a rune portal to Freetown. We spent four weeks training back in Freetown, in which time, we each learned a new spell.

The water mages gave Prue a job. She had to open an urn on the plane of water when we went there. Apparently there is a giant shark spirit in the urn.

One morning, I looked out a window to see that Irina was playing with a voodoo doll that looked like me. Suddenly, I got an extreme pain in my left knee. I raced downstairs to try and get to her in the courtyard to get the doll off her. When I got downstairs I saw that some witches had just finished waxing the main hall. The pain was too great to bear, so I ignored them. They Hellfired me. All eight of them.

Arden came back and tried to retrieve my body without standing on the waxed floor. It took him five hours, and by the end of it, the witches were all sitting around placing bets, and playing drinking games. The first round had already drunk so much they had passed out.

Eventually he retrieved my body, and I was resurrected. I went as quickly as possible to go see Irina, but the moment I entered her presence, I dropped dead. Gods I hate that curse. I was resurrected again, and, under the impression that Irina’s curse only kills once every twenty four hours, I went back to see her, to get the doll of me off her. I died again. After I was resurrected, again, I was informed that her curse kills one person every twenty four hours, and that person can die an unlimited number of times. I sent Arden to get the doll for me.

Arden, of course, brought Irina back. Fortunately I survived this time, and I managed to retrieve the doll. We then went our separate ways. Later on while I was in the outhouse, Irina came up and opened the door. I died. I'm sure she does this for fun.

Marco was called home for some urgent reason, and we received a replacement for him by the name of Emmet.

The next day, Lyrus murdered me because I made a comment about his clothing. Touchy bastard. Once resurrected, we received our instructions from Irina. I dropped dead in her presence. Once I was resurrected, the earth mages very kindly told me that I could learn the necromantic spell "Petit Mort" if I slew a cyclops shark while I was on the plane of water, and stole it's pearl of knowledge. We then finished receiving our instructions from Irina. We had to go to the plane of water and collect some water from a place of power.

We prepared for the trip to the plane of water, and the went through a portal. We arrived on a beach on the plane of water. We went for a swim. It didn't take us long to find the Cyclops shark. We then tried to kill it. It was a losing battle. I got caught in a current and was washed into a celestial magic trap and completely disintegrated. My spirit was sent to the celestial plane of darkness. When I was resurrected, I was in a large temple, apparently for the worship of shark that was some kind of chaos god. Apparently, after I had died, Prue opened the urn and released the shark, who turned out to be this god. The shark-god defeated the cyclops shark, and Arden collected the pearl of knowledge for me.

The shark-god had some of his worshipers show me how to use the pearl of knowledge, and I learned my new spell. After this, we went up to the top of the temple and collected the water from the place of power that we needed. After about a week on the plane of water, we returned to Alusia.

Once back on Alusia, we started preparing for our intrepid journey to the plane of fire, so we could run the ogres off and free up the place of power so the wiccans' could make us some robes, and other shiny things. We got some honey roasted nuts, which we traded with some illusionists for enhanced vision, so we could see through the smoke on the plane of fire, prepared our potions of succubi stealth, shadow wing traps, and got ready to go.

Once ready, we went through a portal to the plane of Fire. It was very smoky and hot. We drank our potions and headed north, towards where the ogre camp was supposed to be. We managed to find it. Getting in was a little tricky. It was in a large crater, and the only way in was to go down on a massive gondola, with supply crates. Fortunately, we managed to sneak into the camp without being detected. In the middle of the camp, was a huge stone temple. The nearer we got, the more damage Prue, Daisy, Lyrus and Arden took. Emmet and I didn't seem skilled enough to be affected by the rod. We sneaked into the temple, and climbed to the top, where the was an important looking ogre, and a human guard. Arden and I immobilised the ogre, Emmet took care of the guard, and Lyrus grabbed the rod. We then all set off our shadow-wing traps and flew away. Unfortunately, we got split up.

Arden and Emmet flew back to the portal, Lyrus and Daizy flew south to a bridge we had crossed, Prue flew East, and I went north, to horrible fiery death. Arden and Emmet helped Irina send a horde of fire imps in to flush out the ogres. Lyrus and Daizy flew round east, and then to the north of the ogre camp. They picked up Prue on the way, and eventually found my dead body. We managed to keep the rod away from the ogres for a full 12 hours - long enough for Irina and the other wiccans to make the robes. We then left the rod for the ogres to find, and returned to Alusia.

Irina paid us for the work we did.
