As a young Dwarf, growing up in [[High Castle]], he never really felt that he belonged; that he was different from everybody else. Of course, the political unrest didn't help with any of that. Getting older, he realized he loved being outside far more than underground, being up in the mountains he felt so free and it was the first place ever for him that just felt right. All he wanted to do was get to the sky, touch the clouds, untethered to the ground. This was an uncommon view as most dwarves wouldn't dream of being anywhere but underground. Tharlin had heard about the Guild of adventurers and the magics they could display so he sought it out, hoping to one day touch the clouds. On his way, he discovered [[Bromli]] and [[Cronose]]'s Brewery and began working there for money and a place to live. When Tharlin took a dose of this mixed with a special blend of essences it turned him into a shapeshifter bear. He could then choose to change into a bear or werebear at any time he chose.

The rank of Were-bear form cannot exceed that of the Bear form. It would take [20-rank] minutes (minimum 1 minute) to transform into the Bear or Were-bear forms. Or this process can be rushed and take [20-rank] pulses and deal [2D10-rank](minimum 2) FT.

Tharlin is a Dwarven Air Mage played by Conal. His first adventure was Blood, Sweat and Beers in the Autumn of 818wk. As a young Dwarf, growing up in High Castle, he never really felt that he belonged; that he was different from everybody else. Of course, the political unrest didn't help with any of that. Un-bear-able

Over the years Tharlin has been associated with bears more and more. It all started on his first adventure in Autumn 818wk: Blood, Sweat and Beers. Tharlin and his party made up of Hayden, Haedric, Cob, and Sprockett wandered upon the old forest spirit Ursok the bear in a very sacred grove. Ursok was a very magical bear who seemed to have an almost instant connection to Tharlin. Ursok later passed on along with his sacred grove, leaving a staff for Tharlin to keep and remember him by. This staff was a part of the big tree in the centre of Ursok's grove. It gives Tharlin and only Tharlin the strength and endurance of a mighty bear while the staff is in his hand/s. In a more recent adventure, Covert Fox (Autumn 822wk), part of the reward was a dose of Refined Chaos. This gives the consumer a special ability. Whether that is to receive a Machina Heart, the ability to shape change or a range of other options is up to the consumer. When Tharlin took a dose of this mixed with a special blend of essences it turned him into a shapeshifter bear. He could then choose to change into a bear or werebear at any time he chose.
