3 days ago, a 'civic minded murderer/thief' killed someone by the front gates of Viahold and then alerted the guards to the corpse and letters on it.
The courier had 7 letters that Lady Sigrun Jurgenmark wants investigated as they incriminate powerful families of the Western Kingdoms in War Crimes during the Jurgenmark occupation. We are to return any evidence to the King of the Western Kingdom.
 
Lord Vlad does not believe this is a disinformation campaign.
 
Margrave Henrik would also like certain jewellery if we find it.
 
Lady Sigrun is issuing us letters of authority to investigate in Henrik's name. That grants us reasonable authority to investigate in Jurgenmark and dubious authority elsewhere in the WK.
 
We need to pick up a scholar (genealogist) on the way and take her to Jurgenmark.
Dame Ysabet from Lorneholm in the hills of Central Aquila.
 
We are paid 3,000sp up front.
 
We get cheap rk 16 GE (except Wundstr who is rich), healing potions, and restoratives.

We fly 300 miles (7 hrs) north to Chestyr, near the ruins of Zumular.
 
We land outside of town late afternoon, wait for our wings to wear off then wander into town through Eastgate.
Merryl the gate guard suggests the '''Black Lion''' as a reasonable inn.
 
We check in with Margo the proprietor and get a couple of rooms, 28 sp (4 ea).

Heading out Westgate with a packed lunch, we walk out of town then sprout shadow wings and fly.
 
Late afternoon we cross the Drosky Mountains, south of Barretskyne and find the village we want, a storm is coming from the north, a couple of buildings near the Archivist' big house on the hill are set alight as we approach.
 
About 20 bandits attacking the village, we charge in dealing lightning, geysers, fear, noxious vapours, and melee damage.
 
We question a survivor, former farm-hand turned bandit, paid by Brian from the next village (10 miles away, towards Barretskyne) 200sp each to come here and burn the Witch in her house.
They were to meet Brian at the Red Fox Tavern afterwards.
 
Reeve Giles gives us a note for Reeve Silas for the arrest of Brian.
