Some mariners split it in two. The Northern Ocean is what lies north of the equator, while that south is known as the Southern Ocean.
The sahuagin came from the Northern Ocean when Leviathan rose, displacing them and forcing them south. The Elven Isles are also located somewhere in the Northern Ocean. Not much else is known of what lies there.
