Quickness

Trialling a slightly different version of Quickness during this game.

Minor Changes for simplicity:

  • Duration changed to 5+ rank minutes (random variation is just a pain that mostly gets ignored, duration is 1 combat)
  • Resistance changed to None (catching up with the way most people play it)

Bigger Change:

  • An extra full action each pulse at the same IV as your normal action (simultaneous or one immediately after the other).

Quickness (S-12)

Range: 15 feet (+ 15 / Rank)
Duration: 5 minutes (+ 1 / Rank)
Experience Multiple: 300
Base Chance: 20%
Resist: None
Storage: Potion, Investment, Ward
Target: Entity
Effects: The targets' Initiative Value is increased by 10 and they can perform an additional action at the same time as their normal action.

Notes: (ref 7.3 How to Cast Spells)

  • A mage must prepare for at least 5 seconds before casting, this means a spell may not be prepared and cast in the same pulse.
  • Casting a spell takes the full 5 seconds, for convenience the results are resolved on the caster's IV but (my interpretation) an adept (even Namers) may not cast two spells in the same pulse, nor cast and trigger in the same pulse. But I will allow casting a spell then starting preparation of the next spell while the first is still going off so a Quickened mage may cast every pulse.
  • Extra actions from other sources such as high AG will add to your base action only, they won't add to your quickened action as well. So it would be Action + Action + 26AG Action all resolved at once.
