Talk:Insel der Freiheit Province Template
I realise the headings do not follow the normal Wiki standards but have been tinkered with a lot and this is the way I wish these to be set for these pages. --Mandos 14:42, 30 Dec 2008 (NZDT)
No probs Mandos. I was going through pages with "template" in the name, figuring those would be the best to start with to avoid new ones cropping up. Shame you don't want to use the standards though. --Neil 15:06, 30 Dec 2008 (NZDT)
Neil, this particular Wikipedia standard that you are enforcing is one that I disagree with. No great harm either way, just a fairly pointless formatting standard that reduces the number of sub-headings we can easily use. -- Stephen 16:11, 30 Dec 2008 (NZDT)
Actually I agree with the standards as they do make most pages look nice, however in the particular case of these pages I am incorporating two distinct sections, the Area and the Rulers, as such these should be considered separate pages and as such the Heading1 is appropriate to indicate the break. For everything else I agree with Neil :) --Mandos 07:25, 31 Dec 2008 (NZDT)
I'm not *enforcing* standards, just trying to use them as a default when more appropriate. Mandos' comments are exactly when it does make sense not to go to heading1 -- ie when the next sections are not really a sub-section of the main title at all effeectively could be a new subject.
On the other hand, most pages on the dqwiki are simple, and using the standard sizing both looks more pleasant and readable, and makes logical sense as well. Rather than using something that doesn't work well for 90% of pages, use heading1 in the docs as an exception rather than the rule.
There are a few pages where it isn't such a clear decision due to the complexity and length of the page in question. Then again, if you have a 40-odd kb page of pure text with 4 or 5 levels of subheadings, it is starting to become pretty unreadable anway!
Lets face it; we're all basically lazy or have better things to do with our time than spending hours carefully formatting pages as though a published coffee-table book. I'm just trying to help my bit getting looking "mainly" right.
