The dying irresurrectably bit still jars though. Too much like Traveller except it happens to a character already being played.
Player A: Oh I can't play Thag, he's permanently dead. Player B: How did he get killed? Player A: During ranking. Player B: ???!!!???
And how many PDs do we have from the castellan Borderers? Even if only 10 had used it for a few years we should still have 1 and maybe two.
I would suggest that the 'Death' case also stipulates how much EN lost due to ressurection attempts say 2D-12 (min 1)
Replace Perma Death with 'Very messy death', lose 2D-5 EN (min 1), bad but not 'throw away character sheeet bad'.
