Rockfall

Rockfall is an approximately 10 mile diameter area of land where the world laws changed for about 10 years. During that time the land shattered to a depth of 5 miles and started floating around in the area.

Over time brave (or desperate) people explored and settled the area. Farming larger chunks of floating land, mining the floating rocks and the exposed surfaces beneath, harvesting the strange plants that started to grow in the region. Western Kingdom law and taxes were sometimes applied at the borders but not within. Organised Dwarven, Goblin, and Kobold fortified mining settlements were observed as well as many smaller independent operations.

Some people claimed to be able to make the rocks continue to float when taken out of the area, most found that they then soon fell in a normal way.

Towards the end of Winter 823wk, it seems that Alusian world laws resumed and the floating rocks fell. Many people fled the area shortly before the collapse saying they were warned by a ghost or 'just had a bad feeling'. The number of people crushed and buried under the rocks is unknown, estimated to be in the hundreds or maybe thousands.

As of Spring 823wk, the area is rubble, probably haunted, and probably still containing mined ores and other treasures ripe for salvage. It comes to be known as Rockfall.

The adjacent settlement of Rimtown was badly damaged by debris. With the exotic trade it was founded on now gone, the town is being abandoned by those with the means to move on.
