Inns Pricing
This is an attempt to give general pricing for Inns and Taverns through the Western Kingdom and neighbouring area's.
The cost of an inn may vary depending upon the state of the adventurers and the quality of the Inn itself.
One star
Not so much a star as a stable. These Inns have little more than a Common room and a dormitory. These inns cost very little but provide very little in exchange. Adventurers of any standing are advised to avoid these inns as the sound of a fellow adventurer killing a thief may cause lack of sleep.
Many of these cheaper establishments have very little hygiene, and as such at GM's discretion fatigue recovery may be less than normal due to the itching of bedbugs and the skittering of cockroaches.
- Costs
- 3cf - 6cf per night per person. Prices very depending on proximity to better quality inns. Ie if it the only inn for 50 miles the prices could be even higher.
Two Star
Generally run by more respectable folk these inns provide an acceptable level of accommodation for the impoverished adventurer. These establishments generally provide a good nourishing meal and a fairly comfortable bed and may have a few private rooms.
These establishments in the city may be watched by the poorer members of the local thieves guild. Generally a bribe to the owner can avoid the hassles of being robbed. The country variant are generally a most pleasant experience and are generally the best quality you will find in a small village.
- Costs
- 1-5 sp per night per person. Costs vary due to quality. Bribes are generally around the 10-25 sp mark for the whole party.
Three star
You basic well run city inn. Good meals, private rooms and comfortable beds are the order of the day and a well run establishment may have a couple of bouncers to keep away the trash. Poor looking adventurers may be turned away from these inns unless proof of cash is given. Weapons will not be allowed into the common rooms with the exception of daggers. Again bribes may be necessary to avoid the thieves guild attentions.
- Costs
- 5-10 sp per person per night. Bribes are around 50 sp a party.
Four Star
Beds, baths and hot and cold running servants. These inns will cost you and arm and a leg and will not accept shabbily dressed adventurers. They have standards to maintain and are well worth the money you pay for the experience. Food is of the highest quality and the inn will generally have a good selection of local and foreign wines, ales and spirits.
People wearing non metallic armours, or cheap clothing may be barred entry or treated like servants until they have cleaned themselves up. Those in metallic armours will be expected to remove them before entering but a room may be provided for this. Armour and clothing dirty and stained from the road will generally be cleaned and polished for lOsp per set. Adventurers taken for servants or peasants with money may be offered lodgings in the stables for 10% of the cost of the inn.
- Costs
- 25-100 sp per person per night. The costs vary depending on the quality of food availability of baths and the presence of hot and cold running prostitutes.
Five Star
If you are not a noble (or at least very rich, Merchant Prince, High Guildsman, Successful adventurer) don't even try. These establishments are only found in cities without a baron's or duke's castle. They cater only the the noble classes or the extravagantly rich. Guarded by trained soldiers and lacking in nothing they provide a wonderful environment to relax in after a hard days adventuring. Meals in your room or in the dining area, quarters for your servants and private entertainments are a few of the standard embellishments.
Traveling nobles generally expect to stay at the hospitality of the local baron. If it is not a baronial town the baron will generally sponsor the building of an inn of this quality. The costs reflect the fact that they have few guests each year. Proof of nobility will allow credit which will be taken up with the nobles family at a later date. After all haggling like merchants is ever so gauche. Non nobility will have to pay in advance with an additional bond.
- Costs
- 100sp+ per person per night with bonds demanded for non-nobility. Nobility who stay on credit must have the family pay the bills within 6 months or the establishment may hire assassins for the retrieval of cash or the punishment of the offender. These assassins with generally be ranks 5-8 depending on quality of inn and amount of debt.
