Xantenburg
Xantenburg is the seat of the Baron of Xantenburg, an office currently held by Albrecht Von Gothe. The town is nestled in the Keraptis Mountains near the headwaters of the Xanten River that flows north past Gerebraun on route to the great Baratary River at Valliere. The town is a trading settlement and one end of Erma’s_Pass between Baklava and Xantenburg
The town is solidly built in the mountain way and life revolves around mining gold and other minerals as well as farming highland animals.
The Lakes of Xant
The Lakes of Xant are nine in number and are nestled in the valleys around Xantenburg and it is suggested that they hold the water that eventually flows down the Xanten River towards the sea.
Castle Xantenburg
Castle Xantenburg is an ancient structure and historically it was used as a prison for at least 200 years until around Wk 600 when it fell into disrepair after the last prisoner there died. The Baron of Xantenburg decided to rebuild the Castle in 662 and embarked on a building program to restore it to its former glory (less the prison cells) as well as adding 4 large towers on each of the castle cardinal points. The castles rebuild and an improvement was completed in 666WK and the Von Gothe Family moved into the new castle leaving what is now the Merchants Tower in Xantenburg.
The von Gothe Family
The Van Gothe Family has been a steady influence in the area for the last 300 years albeit a low profile one in the social scene of the Western Kingdom. The Current Baron of Xantenburg, Albrecht von Gothe succeeded his father Konrad von Gothe in 790 when his father drowned while swimming in one of the Lakes of Xant nearby.

Albrecht is known as a man of the people and has endeavoured to improve the lives of his subjects even at great cost to his realm and this has been evidenced in his financing of "The Morryn Tunnel" that has had a significant impact in enabling trade between Xantenburg and Baklava and reducing the lives lost crossing the Keraptis Mountains via Erma's pass.
