Lake Assyl

Lake Assyl runs along the southern side of Gurin Pass. A lot of the lake was filled in by the quake of 78.

After the quake of 78 the area of the lake was reduced to some 225sq miles (15m by 15m) and the other 1000sq miles was filled in by nearby mountain-slides / underground ructions and is either filled in or buried under the rubble of the earth.

The lake did have some deep water and its mostly in the far SW corner of the lake while the shallower water was in the NE. There is a lot of aquatic life here and the colours in the lake are quite remarkable along the edges in particular.
