Ned's Trail
Neds Trail
This is the main pass between the Mandala Plain lowlands and the area Salicton and the The Plateau of Leung. The pass rises from 1000ft above sea level to 4000ft over 20 miles of winding trail ascending the sides of several mountains. The pass is named after the Neds that used to infest the pass hundreds of years ago. The Neds were a gang of criminals who controlled passage through the pass unless a toll was paid – if no toll paid then many suffered serious if not fatal accidents while traversing the trail. The Neds were finally driven out by Lord Erimund Shein who cornered the gang and killed them almost to a man and they never troubled travellers after that. The pass is treacherous and slow going in the winter months and in summer its merely dangerous and so much of the travel is done by locals who offer (for a small and reasonable fee) to guide and assist in the travels up and down the trail – these kind souls are known as Ned’s Helpers.
