Overview

The village only had around 400 people living there but they had a wider population of around 2000 in the near Mandala Plain and Hollow Woods who called the village home. The village was originally built in the safety of the deeper Hollow Woods and sheltered from the elements by the woods themselves until the north-eastern stands were burned down in 768WK by wildfires after lightning strikes in a summer storm. The trees have been replanted but the surrounding trees have many decades to grow before they can provide more sheltered environment.

The Village appears to have grown around a sacred site (the stone church dedicated to St Alaric) and grown organically from there.

The Church of St Alaric

Church records indicate it was founded as a small shrine to St Alaric in 456WK by a Father Narissa. The shrine was enlarged in mid Spring 670wk when Father Narissa came into funds and built a solid stone chapel and small rectory and stone wall around the chapel grounds. Chapel records note a Tuscanan stonemason named Michelangelo Buonaroti – he was also an earth mage (b630 d696wk) helped with the construction and in the chapel grounds there is an engraving on a tomb that’s partly readable saying that he was a mage of the earth and a friend of Narissa Tremaine.

History

This village was attacked and destroyed on the 5th of Thaw 812Wk by the Hollow Woods Brigands led by Carnassus the Ogre. The villagers have all been slaughtered in what appears to be frenzied attacks and all have had their heads cut off.

On the 7th of Thaw a guild party (see The Gyldwasser Depths) found some survivors buried under the ruins of the Wild Boar Inn and rescued 23 children and 2 woman including Mychelle Damenostre a 6 year old girl who has the gift of sight.
