Lyonesse is one of the Fairie Planes. Much of the plane is High mana, excepting fairie circles (rare compared with Tir-Na-Nog) which have Very High mana along with certain other special places (the peak of Skyne Monadh and the Isle of Morlynn Luin), and the odd place of Normal mana, such as Cair Cerian Dwr.

Lyonesse is a flat plane, consisting of a large island surrounded by the Long Sea, the Ahd Mear. Beyond this said to be the edge of the world, the Flowering Shore, the Blath Galas where one may walk through passes in the Cylchor Monadhim to other planes, though none have returned by this way.

A land of eternal fruitfulness, Lyonesse seems to be caught in a perpetual autumn, the trees golden yet their leaves do not fall. In Lyonesse species may cross-breed, the resulting offspring bearing some characteristics of one or other. The Sun is more golden than on Alusia, and the Moon glows ruddy in the night sky. As on Tir-Na-Nog, night is brief to the point of non-existence, and the twilights are long and cool.

In Lyonnesse, many of the beasts are blessed with the power of speech. They are larger and taller than their Alusian counterparts, and many types such as Mice, Rats, Beavers, Bears and Cats have become bipedal, and their hands are able to use tools and weapons. The dominant life-forms of Lyonesse are however, the fairie folk. Relatively few of the High Faeries, the Daoine Sidhe live here, but there are many of the lesser fairies. All respect the Lion of Lyonesse, a good power of unknown antecedents (possibly a fairie?).
