The Huygendijk:
This dike was named after a local legend - Hugo van Assenkdeylft who was credited with saving some 600 people in Ostyentosse during the storm of 768 when the waters were about to break through the levee that was there.

Hugo to his credit swam the raging river to get to the hamlet of Ostyentosse and raised the alarm. The trapped people of Osyyentosse took to some local boats and chose to rise out the storm adrift rather than in a risky hamlet surrounded by water. Hugo, who was a local miller was given a manor by the grateful Baron of the area and since then Assenkdeylft Manor has been the site of a yearly mid winter festival celebrating the lives of all he saved.
