OK, I'm confused. We seem to have different ways of putting mages and articles about Colleges of magic into categories. Can someone work out something logical and write it down in an appropriate place so we don't e.g. end up with half the rune mages in Category:Rune and the other half in Category:Rune Magics, and half the colleges having their mages in a category named after the College (e.g. Earth Magics) and half in one named after their members (e.g. Mind Mage).

I'd be comfortable with one category for the people (Category: Mind Mages) to group characters and NPC's and one for more general discussion of the college, spells, rules relating to, etc.

But I agree they they should clear and distinct, and saying Rune Mage as opposed to Rune Magics doesn't really seem clear enough. --Ben Taberner 12:50, 28 Mar 2006 (NZST)

Can one of the big important people please create a standard category for each college such as (category: Mind Mages) , (Category: E&E Mages) etc for the uniformity aspect

The current sub-categories seem to be 7 to 1 in favour of "name given to practioner of the college" (e.g Necromancer) over "name of college" (e.g. Earth Magics) -- ignoring "Rune" which is ambiguous.

So, for ease of standarization, I'd suggest Adepts name over College names as the default -- however... using the generic term (e.g. Necromancy) would be the most flexible as allowing references to to Necromancers, necro magics, undead articles, necro artifacts, etc.

Note the extra fun caused by the Category pages NOT appearing on the standard search results (you can include them by changing the 'Search in Namespaces' setting at the bottom of search results). So an article with the same name as the category (and included in it) would help people find the right category name to use. There aren't likely to be many pages relating to a college in addition to the appropriate Character pages, so I'm not sure a seperate category for them is worthwhile.

That seems sensible Errol, though some redirects may be needed too. Are people going to search for Necromancer, or Necromancy, or Necromantic Conjurations? (I'm guessing one of the first two and not the third... or more likely Necro*).

Hmm, necro* DOESN'T find necromancer!

One rulebook change we are looking at is NOT using the College formal titles in the ToC and Headers, as having 'The College of...' everywhere just adds to visual clutter.

Earth Magics is dead! Long live Earth Mage!

And I've created Rune Mage and moved the two rune mages from Rune. Rune is still there grouping the various Runes colleges.

I've added a quick and dirty intro to the mage category pages that don't have a separate article for the college.
