Wordsmith's “Game Face"

Date: Autumn 806 GM: Martin Dickson

Due to the effects of losing magical control in an area saturated with wild magic, Wordsmith's body underwent some permanent magical mutations; he gained bull's horns, large fangs, and a beweaponed left hand. These changes are now an intrinsic part of his true nature – they can be healed if damaged, will be restored by a True Form ritual, etc.
The three changes were then been further altered by Lord Yo Long aka Jade Dragon, to make them more useful and usable by Wordsmith. The three can be be concealed (such that Wordsmith will look as he did before the changes) and can then be revealed when needed. The PB negatives are cumulative (when all three are revealed Wordsmith's PB is reduced by 6).
Any one, two, or all three of the changes can be revealed (or concealed) as a single (non-magical) Pass action. The Base Chance to do this is [(3 x WP) + (10 per contiguous previous attempt)]. Failure costs 1 FT. (e.g. After 2 tries and failures the third attempt is made at +20 provided there hasn't been a full Pulse in between where an attempt wasn't made; it will also have cost 2 FT so far).

Large Horns

Wickedly sharp curving bull's horns erupt from Wordsmith's forehead, lowering his PB by 3. The horns may be used to gore in melee or close combat. They use normal unarmed SC but have a base damage of D-1, and are “A" class. They additionally count as “pole weapons", solely for the purposes of making a full TMR Charge attack (although with only a +10 bonus for charging – the other half of the +20 charge bonus is lost as Wordsmith has to lower his head somewhat and this make targeting harder).

Venomous Fangs

Large canines descend, slurring Wordsmith's speech, and lowering his PB by 1, but offering a bite attack in Close combat (only). The bite attack uses uses normal unarmed SC, has a D+2 damage base for the purposes of armour penetration, and is “A" class (but is too small to cause Specific Grevious injuries). If armour penetration does occur, then the target will take only 1 point of damage, but will be poisoned at 2 DP per pulse for 2D10 pulses. This is a natural venom, similar to that of a Cobra.

Be-Weaponed Left Hand

Wordsmith's left hand can transform into a “light battle-axe", lowering his PB by 2. His forearm strengthens, the hand flattens and hardens, revealing sharp bone edges, and the middle finger lengthens into a lethal spike. The end result is a small, double bitted, organic battle-axe. It uses battle-axe skill but has slightly different statistics due to its reduced size and reach, inability to be thrown, as well as its unusual composition. The elongated center spike allows for either A or B class attacks to be made with the weapon (Wordsmith must choose before attacking). Additionally there is no off-hand penalty. The weapon is non-magical (for the purposes of what it can hit), but may have a weapon spell placed upon it.
