The Governor’s Palace is the place where absolute power and royal authority meet corruption and pragmatism. It’s all about who you know, how much you bribe, and what they’ve had for breakfast.

People of Note

  • Prince Kadakithis – the half brother of the Duke of Ranke, this charming and seemingly naïve man has ridden the waves of Sanctuary politics for two decades.
  • Zalbar – captain of the Hellhounds, the elite Palace guard.
  • Walegrin – in charge both of the Sanctuary garrison, and his own private mercenaries.
  • Honald – this man and his family control entry into the Governor's Palace.
  • Lu-Broca – palace Major-Domo, the man to see to arrange legitimate interviews, or to be smuggled into the palace itself.
  • Coricidius – the prince's aged, pallid-skinned chancellor.
  • Zanderei – relative of the prince, quartermaster-general.
  • Princess Daphne – a small delicate woman, vicious and resentful.
  • Palace Concubines – including Clarissa, Lirain, and Taya.

Law

The Hellhounds, the ceremonial prince’s guards, the garrison troops and Walegrin’s mercenaries are all based at the palace. Apart from occasional jurisdictional clashes, they work well together, and little escapes their collective eyes. Resident nobles and locals with influence can have the rules bent for them, except by the scrupulously rigid and even-handed Hellhounds.
