Old Saints parish is a series of close-knit communities. Most of the neighbourhoods are poor, with small family businesses serving the local area. Concern for families and neighbours is the glue holding the communities together, and gossip maintains the bonds. Many of the families are Ilsigi, but many are also Rankene, or mixed. Little organised crime occurs in Old Saints, but the usual gaming and drug dens, brothels and taverns add some texture to life. New neighbours are generally welcomed, and sometimes immediately sucked into the convoluted interrelationships and networks of favours and friendships.
Places
- Hovaty Lane - a small street in the Old Saints district of Sanctuary, a place of small triumphs and tragedies.
- Old Saints Church - this church is the centre of the parish. Services for Vashanka (an Ilsig god), Berith (patron of Sanctuary), and Gusion (the Wise) are most common.
People of Note
There are no people of note in Old Saints. Everyone keeps their heads down and their noses clean, or the neighbours will have a word with their mother.
Law
Old Saints is positioned between Little Ilsig and the Bazaar. With Jubal’s resurgence, control of the streets is slowly shifting from the Pilf back to the Hawk-masks. Any crimes within a community is usually sorted out internally. The local tavern owner, changer or other respected citizen will usually control enough lads to enforce any punishments. Major crimes, or disagreements between neighbourhoods is dealt with by whichever gang the neighbourhoods pay their insurance to.
