This is for when you don't care about the Set and just want to skip over it as quick as you can.
This is the cost (in Silver Pennies and Arcane Points) to purchase items and then allow you access to purchase the Base item of the next set above and then reselling the items for almost the best price. The items are returned (resold back) to the Mages for a refund of Arcane Points so the character has no items from the exchange.
This is to allow you to quickly move past the set of items if you are not interested in them.
You retain no 'Base item' for that set.
