Thropshire
An agricultural county often referred to as the 'bread basket of Alcazar'.
Gently rolling hills gradually rising from the river in the east to the Flowing Hills in the south-west.
Small towns, fields, grazing, orchards, 'wild' reserves, many streams and fertile soil. It is often said if you can't grow a crop in Thropshire you shouldn't be a farmer.
Most noble land-holders of Thropshire have their country estates for when they tire of the city and seek the tedium of the country, but primarily reside in Alcazar.
Clun
The surrounding lands and small town of Clun at the northern end of the Flowing Hills is the fief of Sir Fitzwarren.
The town only has a few hundred residents but there is a regular flow of people from the surrounding farms and hamlets.
- The Harp of Clun
- The only Tavern/Inn in town. Serving locally made cider, mead, ale, and food.
- A two-story building with attached coach yard, large common room downstairs and private rooms upstairs.
- In warm weather the large side doors are opened and the patrons flow onto the expansive lawn leading down to the stream. A stage to one side of the lawn often hosts travelling troubadours in summer.
- The Barracks
- A fairly plain stone building with dormitory style accommodation for patrols of the Duke's Guard.
- Sgt Jane Lews (retired) and her family live in the neighbouring cottage, look after the barracks, and she is nominally in charge of any guards while they are stationed in the area.
Fitzwarren
- Sir Fulch Fitzwarren
- The archetypal country lord - fit, strong features, works the land with his people, fair and honourable, not especially political. Said to have been an excellent archer. Born Summer 768wk in Ranke. Married 806wk.
- Lady Maude le Vavasour
- Lady Maude of the Vavasour's of Bowcourt. A striking woman, renowned for her kindness, wit, beauty, and impeccable manners. Would obviously belong in any court in the land but chooses to reside in the country. Born Winter 776wk in Bowcourt. Married 806wk.
- Lady Mabel Fitzwarren
- Daughter and only child of Fulch & Maude. Born Spring 808wk
