Talk:Reaction Tables
I'm a little confused as to how "If the NPC is a librarian, historian, scribe, teacher etc. More if they have specialist knowledge of the question" helps with a request. This isn't modern times after all, people guard their knowledge and hoard it. Unless there is some secret society in DQ where all the members get their 'nerd badge'.

Those who distribute "knowledge"
Perhaps we could replace "librarian, etc." with "know-it-all, or someone who likes to hear the sound of their own voice". A positive reaction by the NPC isn't necessarily an assurance that they will be useful or informed.
good point, only i recall reading that Moorish Spain had many libraries, and that at least one had 10,000 volumes in it. The Dewey system had not been developed so the system for locating a particular volume would be upto the librarian... so i want to be careful not to shackle Alusia to historic christian attitudes. As a similar example (but in an opposite sense) christians created the first public brothels to reduce sodomy amongst unmarried men and yet i am not sure i wish to have prostitutes walking the streets.
