Not sure if this helps with the Argentum analysis (though it may at least provides fodder for the analysis mill); the vows taken from one Sammaelite agent's pact (as distinct of course from the Order's teaching / dogma) are:

• I will bring light to those that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death.
• I will strive to bring rest to troubled souls and bring light unto the dark places.
• I will always strive for wisdom, for light is wisdom as much as darkness is folly.
• I will never sit idle and allow magic to be used to harm the innocent, or aid the unholy.
• I will rather perish than turn aside from the needs of the world or stray from the path of light.

These vows do suggest a rather more active role in the use of knowledge (rather than simply pursuing it for its own sake).
