Reichspiel

A Western human language predominantly used by Aquila and Aladar, and in parts of Brandenberg. To non-speakers the language sounds quite harsh and guttural, and being agglutinative has many long compound words. (For example the name of the city Mittelmarkhauptstadt, and its mechanician's guild Der Mittlemarkhaupstadt Maschine Aufbauakademie).

Folk claims that the Reichspiel derives from Dwarven are incorrect, however the language has acquired a large number of Dwarven loan-words over the centuries. It is Teutonic, and very closely linked to Folksprach, which is sometimes seen as Reichspiels's degenerate cousin, being spoken more among the lower classes.

This societal separation has historical origins with Reichspiel originally more common among the northern peoples closer to the Dragonspine Mountains and Folksprach spoken more closer to the coast. With many of the noble and royal families coming from the mountainous areas Reichspiel acquired the reputation of being the more formal and educated of the two.

For GMing purposes the language has been portrayed as similar to Old High German.
