North Road
A fantastic road several yards wide and mostly straight for long stretches, that remains hard even in winter and has survived since antiquity, probably the oldest trade route in the baronies. The North Road runs from Sanctuary to Drakenburg, and beyond.
All woods have been cleared to a distance of one furlong from the road. Good inns and towns are conveniently spaced along the road.
The road joins or crosses:
Drow Invasion
The battle south of Innesburg in Spring 813WK that ended the main military phase of the Drow Invasion destroyed the the Bowcourt town of Bragelonne and poisoned the land around it, leading to an area of considerable danger along the road. For several year, many merchants have diverted south-east to Deville, with those intending to rejoin the North road then heading west to Maquet. Although this almost doubles the distance, the route is usually much safer than traveling through the devastated area.
822WK
Mercantile concerns out of Innesburg, along with a group formerly in Bragelonne, are understood to have engaged the services of the Mittelmarkhauptstadt Maschine Aufbauakademie to undertake "clean up" operations in the hope of rehabilitating the area and reopening this section of the North Road.
