The Palan River entered into the Jarafel Sea, which is connected to the ocean though the Hezdretgon Straits. Jarafel is built on the eastern side of the Palan River but the calm nature of the Jarafel Sea has allowed it to expand along the seafront rather than the riverside.
This has allowed it to become the largest seaport in the Empire, with a majority of ship building and associated industry concentrated in the city.
