Session #1 – We Get The Job

On the return of the Ghostbusters from their last successful mission (after a bit of R&R) we are approached by Kali (the Guild Namer), and are offered a job. The job was to retrieve a Mist Demon from Haven’s Head.

This seemed not to bad a proposition as I had been there before and knew the territory quite well. So we agreed. To help us in the performance of this task we were given a couple of items. One of thea to control the Demon, the other a two way Communications Device. This was so that we could keep Kali up to date.

So having equipped ourselves Guild provides the transportation and we are off. After we have covered most of the distance Hama decides to check out some Orcs (30 to 40, I think). After a quick trip he returns with an arrow in him, dozy little twerp ! He did know that our job was not to look: for Ores, so God knows why he did it !

Anyway, after that little diversion we continued on, and later that day arrived in the general vicinity of our destination. We had landed on one of the peaks .of an extinct volcano, where there was a convenient cave. By a quick mental inspection I determined that the cave had been reoccupied in my absence. In the meantime the others were just hanging around. I told theo that there were some occupants of the cave and that they were basically animals.

While they were preparing to enter the cave I gained control of one of these animals and discovered that it was a Hippogriff. By that time the others had entered the cave and were in the process of bumping off the other one. There excuse was that they had never seen one of these before (dubious I thought, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt !). Anyway with such a valuable beast under our/my control it was decided that Skuld and I should fly back to Seagate with it to put it in safe keeping. This we duly did, while the others set up camp in the now empty cave. So far so good, tomorrow we would make an attempt at capturing the Mist Demon !

Session #2 – The Ambush

At a fairly late hour the next morning we proceeded to set off down the side of the mountain, os our way to where the Mist Demon "lives”. On the way down we spot, and are spotted by, a couple of Orcs. A quick bit of mental counting by me reveals that we have run into about 18 of thee. An important point to note is that when Skuld and I returned, we brought Horatio with us, that is, he was a relatively new acquisition.

So, we are soon engaged in a pitched battle with them. This went on for quite a long time, and most of the damage the Orcs did was in the way of Damnum Minatums. During the course of the battle I was mostly keeping out of the way of crossbow bolts (not always succesfully, I might add). However, I did manage to see a most amazing feat of Skill at Arms.

Horatio, in the process of trying to outflank the Orcs, had been engaged. Once engaged he proceeded to despatch four Orcs, in about as many blows (believe me I felt every one of those blows !). He then, much to my (and his own !) dismay took an arrow in the "Solid Viscera", nasty one that, of which he died a short time later.

In the mean time Bleyze had managed to set the Chief Orc on fire and they retreated leaving us in possession of the field. After gathering up the odd amnesiac and dead body (Skuld and Nelson amnesiac, Horatio dead), we proceeded to beat a hasty retreat to the cave. Once there, I proceeded to send an S.O.S. to Kali (seeing as Skuld was one of the amnesiacs).

Having reached her, and explained our plight, she flew down to our camp poste haste. She then proceeded to cure Nelson of amnesia. And not a moment to soon too ! Bleyze had just seen a large party of Orcs coming up the hill. I then transformed the cave entrance into a solid rock face (except for the place where a small stream was flowing). This did not, however, stop the Orcs for very long. However, Kali managed to pull off quite a little coup amongst the Orcs and we escaped. I leave any further explanation of what happened in our escape to Kali. I pause to note that she seems to be a very persuasive Lady.

We then returned to Seagate and rested up for about a week while Hama and Horatio were resurrected. We had not been very successful, but had become a fair bit richer. We then resolved, that after a division of what we had obtained, we would try again !

The Ghostbusters Strike Back !

Session #3 – Left or Right ?

This time, when we arrived we flew to a different peak in the area. We soon decided that this was a mistake. There was a simple reason for this, Ballista Bolts (this brought back memories of Brastor Holdings)

We then fly down to the "back door". This used to be a Wyvern's Lair (He suffered from a weak heart I seem to remember). Unfortunately we can’t get through, even with my attempt at creating a path by re-arranging the rockfall.

So, after a short stop we walk off down to the "front door". Now, I remembered a slight difficulty. One side of the double doors had a Lesser Summoning Ward upon it. The problem was which one ? I couldn’t remember for sure, and Nelson was wearing his improved plate so he couldn’t (wouldn’t ?) check the Aura. So, naturally the wrong choice was made !

As nothing appeared to happen, we all entered. Mistake number two ! At first all we see is another rockfall. I try again to "arrange" a path through the rock. But, I only succeed in turning myself into a lump of rock (this isn’t as bad as it seems !). Just at that moment Skuld sees a large and hostile figure at the doorway. Then the place is set on fire, this was obviously a pretty tricky situation ! As I was a lump of invisible rock for the next 20 minutes I had only a limited appraisal of what happened during that time. So, now the rock’s version of the battle !

About 10 seconds later the first death occurred. This was a pattern that was to be repeated a further two times over progressively longer intervals. All of these deaths seemed to be of Humanoids. When I returned to my natural form I could see the bodies of Nelson (with a detached arm), Hama’s body looking like it had been drowned, Bleyze’s body "resting" in some Hands of Earth. Skuld was no-where to be seen. Both of the exits were also blocked by Walls of Darkness. But I managed to get past these without too much difficulty.

On my way out I had a minor run in with a couple of Gorilla’s, but managed to get by them. Once outside I concealed myself, and proceeded to wait. During the next hour I discovered what had attacked us, it was an Efreet. Also during this time it appeared that the Efreet killed off the two Gorillas. During one of its searching passes I managed to gain control of it. From there I collected what I could off the reachable bodies and proceeded to occupy the next 14 hours with an intense period of concentration as I had the Efreet take myself and Nelson’s body back to the Guild.

Epilogue – I 'Save' The Party !

Having arrived back at the Guild I managed to get Kali to take over control of the Efreet. I then rested up for a short while. After this I searched about for Kree the E&E Mage.

Having found him Kali gave the Efreet instructions to take us down there and help us get the Mist Demon. Also, the afreet was given a Hypnotic suggestion that I could tell him where the last person ha was supposed to kill was (this was purely for insurance on my part, in case Kali's spell(s) wore off !).

So we flew down there (again !) and without too much trouble picked up the Mist Demon. We then flew back with the remaining bodies (which were a wee bit rat molested !>.

While there, Kree did a detect on Skuld. Much to my surprise we found him, although he did seem to be suffering from Amnesia. After convincing him that we were friendly we left. Shortly after reaching the Guild the Efreet demanded that I tell him where the last person was! I then tried to find someone who could get rid/control of the Efreet. But, then he decided that I was holding out on him so he started hitting me. It was then that I told him that it was Skuld (this I hoped would give me the couple of pulses necessary to regain control of him. Unfortunately I failed ! This sadly led to Skuld’s death. With Skuld dead the Efreet vanished and the adventure had coma to an end!

Footnote - I am not entirely sure that Skuld minded dying, having talked to him since (something about an 'Ex-Geas")
