Fae Nightmare Court

Faeries are not all sweetness and light. Nor are they easy to keep in line. On those rare occasions when the King of Summer needs everyone to be in the faerie circle pissing outwards, he calls upon his old drinking buddy, Cantor, Prince of Nightmares. Cantor's Fae Court is full of creatures that are too dangerous, misbegotten, cursed, warped, or magical to safely occupy a normal Fae Court. This realm is perhaps one of the most disciplined and organised Fae Courts, for without discipline and structure, its inhabitants would accidentally kill each other very quickly. The combination of dangerous unpredictability, discipline, and absolute loyalty to the crown has proved very useful to the King of Summer on the few occasions that an invasion, magical assault, or other external threat occurs, and far more frequently when keeping rebellious Courts in line.

Social Structure

Other Fae don't visit the Nightmare court, so generally they encounter individuals or small squads on duty. A squad is usually on some particularly important and urgent business for the King of Summer, and so is likely to be led by Cantor. Individuals are either on discrete assignments or secondment to other Fae rulers, but sometimes can be found visiting relatives and friends in other courts. They will not deliberately initiate hostilities, even when provoked, unless their standing orders require this, or they are drunk, bored, or irritated. Side-effects from their presence may be deleterious or even fatal (particularly to mortals), but they usually do not see this as a hostile action.

Individuals

Cantor
The Prince is a powerful and ancient Shadowfae. He is roughly 5'-15' long, and 7'-10' high. He exists in a constantly fluctuating number of dimensions, and can be in several places at the same time. Most of the time he appears to be a pile of folded shadows and silver claws, and his twisting form can drive mortals (including elves) insane within seconds. He is a bit of a control freak, and likes to lead all deployments. His ability to tri-locate can be useful in micromanaging his troops.
Vally
The Princess is a powerful and ancient Selkie. Although of normal size for a seal, her characteristics are that of an Orca. In humanoid form she appears as an awesomely beautiful Sylph. Her voice is that of the Ocean, and she can command all within earshot to obey her every command (mortals and Fae alike). She is remarkably calm, thoughtful, and tolerant, which is fortunate, as social, magical, and/or physical chaos erupts around her constantly in an ongoing crazy bedlam.
Tibal
Tibal is an Alux tracker. He is unsurpassed at tracking by sight, although only highly skilled at other forms of tracking. He has a magical consumption, a disease that causes him to waste away unless he is eating almost constantly. Those mortals meeting his eyes for more than a moment will be drawn in by them, and rapidly sucked into the black pits of hunger that lie within. He can also swallow food that is considerably larger than his own 2'6" stature.
Marigold Highbrow
Merry (to his friends) is a Low Sidhe. Low Sidhe are Fae that look remarkably like their fallen cousins, the Elves/Drow/Erelhei. He is a Fire Mage who sometimes works with Tibal. It is not known why he is part of the Nightmare Court.
