DQWiki talk:Copyrights

Thought this was worth adding to the Wiki, in case someone steals pages and uses them to make wads of cash.

Could someone with an actual clue when it comes to copyright confirm that this is ok?

Its not really about 'wads of cash'... as if anyone in the RPG industry makes that anyway... but about making it clear what people can and can't do with the material we publish.

Without any notice the material is automatically covered by normal copyright -- which basically means that no-one is allowed to copy it, modify it, make variant or derived works, etc. (Which could be quite problematic in a multi-author wiki environment anyway).

Using the GFDL -- the same licence that Wikipedia and Mediawiki use -- means that we are extending certain additional rights to anyone who wants to use our content. They can copy it, distribute it, derive works, even sell it... but, under the GFDL they then have to extend the same rights to the next person who wants the material.
