Archetypes desired within the Game
DQ doesn't have memes defined within the rules, yet character concepts are driven by some archetypes.
DQ tactics appear to include the 'hold the line' Armoured warriors who shield blast mages.
Other tactics are the Damage Warriors and Assassins who tend to act independently of the team.
The idea for this discussion is to list the main character concepts as they (might) apply to combat, determine the factors that help or hinder such applications and see what modifications to the rules and proposed rules would enhance these memes.
The preference is for many memes to be playable, successful and enjoyable within DQ. They may not be equal, but hopefully will be close enough that diversity is encouraged.
One option is to just create a set of rules and allow players to min-max their PCs to this ruleset. That is not my preference.

- Assassins and other loners
- Healers
- Blast Mages
- Skills and combat support
- Healing and combat recovery, including fixing weapons etc
