'''New Themiskyra''' or '''Themiskyra Island''' is often believed to be in the Isles of Adventure but is actually somewhere in the Isles of Mystery (in the Sea Storms) west of Raniterre (near St Charles). Its exact location is hard to identify as it is protected by magical storms and possibly by a god. The island may only be reached or left via a magical storm.

The island is inhabited by (2-300) ageless woman warriors (calling themselves Amazons) who worship the old gods (Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Zeus, Athena, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon) primarily Poseidon who they say protects the island.

Legend has it there was once a great city called Themiskyra that is now lost/destroyed. The Amazons were refugees or exiles of the city.

Elves and Men are unwelcome on the island and may be killed on sight.

The people of Themiskyra speak Themiskyran which is also presumably the language of the city they originally came from.

Few people outside the island use the language, mostly spies or conspirators, because Themiskyrans only use their own language to write to their spies and allies throughout Alusia.
The written form uses multiple colours of ink & is very compact so that a messenger-dove can carry the equivalent of several pages of Common.
