The lands known to modern Alusians as Terranova lie across the ocean to the West, thousands of miles from the Baronies and other well known parts of Alusia.

The central northern part of Terranova was once the heartland of the old Elven empire, before its cataclysmic fall in the [[War of Tears]]. That land was originally known as Arcadia, and is the home to the old Elven capital of [[Kadath]].

The lands to the West were lost in the dark ages since the fall of the elves, and rediscovered in the early 790's by an expedition lead by Don Francisco Pizarro de Cordoba, an exiled Destinian lord, sailing under letters of marque from the Elven crown. Pizarro was accompanied by a Guild party, and it was guild members who suggested ''Terranova'' as a name for the new continent.

Initially thought to be a single continent, later exploration revealed northern and southern land masses with a wide strait between. These expeditions also revealed that Terranova is far from empty. There are many races living in Terranova, and many strange beasts; most of them hostile.

All of Terranova was badly affected by the earth shattering magics used in the Elven civil war -- the effect can be thought of as magical fallout; warping and twisting the flora and fauna.
