The pass has a good quality road through it but the vagaries of the weather mean that it often takes more than one day to pass through as snow and ice impede progress in the winter/spring months along with snow melt and such conditions. <br/>

In the north of the pass are the [[Gates of Haydron]] which are part of the large partially built walls that will seal the pass once completed. The gates themselves are finished but parts of the walls are not yet built to their full height or finished uniformly.
