New page

Astrological Theories
If Ares is analogous to Thunor, then Horror could be one of its [[Thunor#Physical Data|moons] (or an invasion from such). Note that in Thunor, gods are worshipped akin to those on Ares, including Ares itself, which is apparantly (a) the reason for the red colour & lack of water; (b) the God of War, (c) the Father of Horror & Fear. Or it could all be co-incidence. Cpt. Kit.

Mil Sci
*I have a lot more confidence in our Mil Sci now that I realise that the marching order is just a dump of the party list, and not a suggestion that the Vestal Virgin leads in anything other than fashion! - WS
*Hmmph. I see how this works, you give the Mil Sci a bit of friendly lip and you have to spend the boring bits (with the nobs) stuck looking at the giant's butt! ;-[)]

* While you're down there... I wonder if that's still going to be as funny by the end of the season.
* But it could be worse, you could be stuck up front having to talk to other nobs. But at least I get to Isil Eth's butt to watch. :-) -- Aryan

* Note that Amelia (third rank social order) is an Baroness - she outranks Kit (Baronet) - maybe they should swap places?

* Please no. Last time I was there I took the position of Halfling Guide and Isil Ith's senechel. I got to talk to the interesting and useful folk (and was fed better). --Amelia
----

We need to confirm how long the nights are on Ares.
Also, axial tilt, circumference, year length & the date of the last Equinox. If you think I'm kidding, you've never tried to navigate the Princess Blade. -- Kit.<br>
Did we mention that the Princess Blade doesn't use the wind? You need to be a Master Navigator in order to pilot her (unless you are like me, and did all your navigator training on her type). - WS

Weapons
Also, remember that edged weapons are socially unaceptable (cuts get a nasty infection), and metal corrodes very rapidly. A work-around we used on the last trip was to have a few weapons sealed in wax and stored in Chester (my floating chest). In any case, punching people is just as effective IIRC. - WS

Ok so we need a few non-metal weapons, and c-class weapons. I have a few swords and daggers made of stone from Oz.

Does silvering or magic stop the metal decay?
* Slows it a little, from memory
* magic weapons can decay into scrap. My self-repairing armour coped, just. Bring wooden/stone gear, & big studded (not spiked) gloves. -- Kit

Is there any reason punching is more effective on Ares? - Aryan
* You don't feel as heavy there. Also the dirt is funny. Some (unformatted) notes at Never_Say_Neverre_Info#Ares - WS
* Acrobatics & jitsus are the best thing over there -- Kit
