	The Street of Red Lanterns is not so much a street, as a subculture. Red lanterns are everywhere in Sanctuary, although there is a cluster between the Jewellers Quarter and the Maze, around the best known establishments of Aphrodisia House and the Lily Garden. Myrtis is the unofficial mayor of this community of brothels, gaming houses, pawnshops, money lenders and vendors of related wares. Red Lantern businesses come alive at sunset, when ~~Sanctuaryâ€™s~~ citizens appear, many wrapped in cloaks to hide their identities from acquaintances and the muggers and cutpurses preying on the clientele. At this time too, unaffiliated ladies walk the streets, or troop behind the mansions of Uptown into the Promise of Heaven, to ply their trade, returning at sunrise. The Red Lantern district is within the purview of Walegrin, but he tends to keep a lax rein on the area, so long as everyone is enjoying themselves and money is changing hands. Red Lantern businesses in other parts of Sanctuary are often owned or protected by local crime lords.
