Little is known of Istu beyond him being a son of [[Baal]], having powers in deep earth and magma, and that he was slain in the war that felled his father but remained on Alusia as a form of demon.<br />
<br />
It is believed that he was imprisoned at a later date inside a floating city in a pocket plane attached to Alusia, and called the [[Microverse]], where he was watched by a Balrog who would challenge people to games of chess (and cheat).<br />
<br />
It is not known when Istu was freed, and the first sign that he was no longer in the Microverse was the disappearance of his Balrog guardian.<br />
<br />
No one has seen Istu in this age of the world, and he has chosen to act only through his minions: elemental-like creatures of lava.<br />
<br />
He appeared to side with his brother [[Apollyon]] and assist in the plan to free Baal, but at the climactic moment in the battle for [[Kadath]] his minions undermined the mountain crags surrounding the city and allowed [[Leviathan|Leviathan's]] flood waters to pour into the lava fields causing a tremendous explosion that destroyed the city, the attackers and most of the defenders.<br />
<br />
No sign of Istu's followers has been seen since the battle.</div>Martin
