Proposed Patches 2021

The Poison Dust ritual has recently annoyed me by how pointless it is. Too expensive to use and ineffective at low ranks, affordable but completely useless in anything but a low level game at rank 20! Trying not to overcompensate, I've gone for just enough change to give it some value at most ranks and made the material cost more like the Waters of Healing/Str, i.e. pay for permanence. SC for throwing Rocks/Grendoes is awful if you have to beat their defence so allowing targeting the hex.

Quickness and to a lesser extent Slowness are an age old problem, here's another variation to try. I think IV & TMR are the benefits to target for Quickness but previous versions gave too much and broke combat in other ways. I'm aiming for tactical benefit for the party without being overwhelming or making other abilities irrelevant, adding a better duration and ability to hit the whole party in once cast (with a little coordination) by making it an area of effect. And potential to buff a small squad in one cast at higher ranks. Slowness is still a combat-cast debuff, paired up to counter the effects of Quickness for a short time and with a resist for half effect so it still has value when the opposition has 80+ MR.


Manufacturing Poison Dust (Q-4)

Experience Multiple: 250
Base Chance: 80% + 1% / Rank
Cast Time: 3 hours
Duration: 3 hours (+ 3 per rank)
Effects: The Adept creates a small or large enchanted ball of toxic dust. When thrown (use Rock or Grenado SC%) at an entity or a solid surface, it releases a cloud of toxic dust that inflicts damage due to poisoning on entities in the target area then dissipates. Resist for half damage.

  1. Small: A 1 oz ball that inflicts D (+ 1 rank) on one hex.
  2. Large: A 2 oz ball that inflicts D (+ 1 per 2 ranks) on a mega-hex.

The enchantment on the dust ball will last until it is used if the adept expends 1,000 Silver Pennies on rare ingredients that are consumed in the ritual.

Slowness (S-11)

Range: 15 feet + 5 / Rank
Duration: 10 seconds + 5 per rank
Experience Multiple: 300
Base Chance: 20%
Resist: Active, Passive
Target: Entity
Effects: The spell affects 1 (+ 1/2 rank) targets who are slowed:

  • Engaged Initiative Value is decreased by 20 + 2xRank, resist for half.
  • TMR is halved, resist for no effect.
  • Non-combat Movement Rate is halved, resist for no effect.

Quickness (S-12)

Range: 5 + rank feet
Duration: 5 + rank minutes
Experience Multiple: 300
Base Chance: 40%
Resist: None
Target: Entity
Effects: The spell affects all targets within range who gain the following benefits:

  • Engaged Initiative Value is increased by 10 + Rank.
  • Unengaged Initiative roll gains an additional D10.
  • TMR is increased by 1 per 4 full ranks.
  • Non-combat Movement Rate is doubled.
