Not a Mage, but from a family of Mechanicians (he's 6: traps, complex locks, etc), "Loot'er" is an enthusiastic, almost compulsive, practitioner of the Traditional Hobbitish Industry of Finding (Rk.7) — a.k.a. nicking stuff or what Gt-Aunt Hedera prefers to call ``reallocating neglected objets de virtue --- (the `for fun & profit' is implied) ... and a (Rk.5) "Good Neighbour & Citizen" (G.A.-H-speak for SPY)

Luther is low-level Ranger [4, woods] and Merchant [3, specializing in gems obviously] — with several artisan skills expected of a hobbit: Locksmith, Cartographer, Cook/Baker, Cartwright/Wheelwright [all 5]; also Brewer [3] and beginner Blacksmith [0]. He's a beginner Healer [2], just good enough to know which end to insert a healing potion and to detect whether the marks, I mean "patients" are unconscious, sleeping, or faking it.

BACKGROUND
Luther is pronounced LOOT-er because the family previously lived in the capital city of Bowcourt for Generations. Hobbits are the 2nd-most numerous race there (after humans).

The family were Mechanicians patronised by and granted their Surname (Luthier) & charter to be Master Lutemakers (among other less formal, er... confidential services) to the Royal Court — until unfortunate circumstances the blatantly political marriage of the current Head of State (Her Serene Radiance, Marquisa Dulcina) to a foreign Duke disrupted How Things Ought To Be Done and, more to the point, who was doing them.

Now in AnteCarzala, on the highway North, The Hobbit clan now runs an Inn and related businesses Brewery/mill/Bakery/Mech-Workshops/etc, maintaining very close ties to various Seagate guilds.
