...taken from the first adventure - Trade Mission to Milloo.

Setting: The city-state of Göttersegnend.

This world has followed the religious art of golem making into an age of
industry. Some other forms of magic have survived to this age as well. The
main schools are Animation, Alchemy, Enchantment and Channelling.

Channelling being the power of prayer. It is thought that the art of Alchemy
is largely driven by prayer - it remains a major school
by the virtue of its' usefulness.

"and on this Sabbath day none shall do labour, not thine manservant nor thy
maidservant, thy ox nor thine ass or anyone in your household."

This fundamental ruling became an annoyance to the commerce minded people of
the city-state of Göttersegnend. They came up with the solution that - if
the work was not being done by beings of divine creation ( ie themselves
or the animals ) then it could not possibly be in contradiction to divine
law. The church said that the test would be - if the holy one would allow
creations to be made then they would take it for his blessing.

By the genius of Alchemy, Enchantment and Prayer the people bound the elements
into Golems or Konstruktenmänner in the shape of humanity. The Church gave
its' blessing and more were created to do the work of the faithful when
they were occupied in holy contemplation.

In time the people grew to depend on their creations. The golems did not tire
or need food. The people reasoned that if they set the golems to work
permanently then the people would have more time for holy works. The
Church was persuaded and more golems were created. Now - only the poorest
of humanity works for a living in Göttersegnend.

The people became even more demanding and the magicians came to a standstill.
No longer could they fulfil the expectations of their customers. There was
no other recourse than to consult with the neighbouring mountain dwellers
that both supplied the rare elements for these constructs and were wise in
the ways of magical workings.

(Mountain Dwellers aka Pax Sotterraneo : Dwarfs and Orcs. Notes later.)

For many years the trade between mountain and plains flourished. The Pax
Sotterraneo sent down the Golems of superior functionality and the plains
paid heavily for them.
Recently - the backorders for golems are increasing and the Pax Sotterraneo
have offered no reasons for their tardiness.

Erasthamus Kironacovich, head of the guild of golem makers in Götter Segnend
has called a meeting with his suppliers and will travel into the mountains
to find out why they cannot fill their orders.

The Pax has stipulated that he must travel with a minimal entourage.
