Federated Elven Provinces of Alfheim

The governance of Alfheim has gone through a renaissance following the proclamation by the Queen conferring Palatinate status onto several rebellious provinces.
The internal tensions had been growing for some centuries, mostly due to lack of attention be given by the central court to minor grievances from within the provinces. The lack of attention, and the failure by the provinces to solve their own issues, can to a degree be blamed on a demon-cursed slumber affecting the whole of Alfheim. The removal of the curse by a guild party allowed the invigorated elves to bring their concerns to a boil.
Ladlaugh almost seceded from the Queendom and Elvandor went its own way, leaving the Queen with almost no military. Most of the other provinces planned changes.
The New Arrangement was proposed by St. Isil Eth the Lawbringer after a whirlwind of diplomacy with all of the provinces. Some muttering was heard that Isil Eth forced acceptance of her proposals as she claimed dissention was a sign of continued demonic influences.

Most elves beleive Isil Eth's comments on the benefits of High Elven society, her history of how the elves got to where they are now and the need for change. There is therefore almost complete popular support for the New Arrangment.

The New Arrangement accords Palatinate status on the provinces of Elvandar, Ladlaugh, Liussen, Elsdon and Varendar. The central provinces remain under the Queen's direct administration. Although the Northern Provinces remain under the Queen's administration, their different climate and culture suggests they will have significant autonomy anyway.
