Mandos, your signup method has added categories of three of your characters to the Dec 2007 adventures wanted page. This doesn't seem right, even for your mad categorising. Could you please review this? thanks Andreww 00:18, 2 Nov 2007 (NZDT)

Realistically is that a problem? It adds a few extra links to a transient page. Personally I don't see that as a major issue. Could you elucidate as to the nature of the issue you see with it? --Mandos 09:06, 2 Nov 2007 (NZDT)

  1. It appears to be attributing 'ownership' or particular 'relevance' to each of your characters for this page, and then links this page back from your character categories again.
  2. It bugs me.
Maybe it is not a big deal, but it seems to exemplify the issues I have with the overuse of categories on this Wiki.

  1. It has relevance, my characters are on the list. It allows a GM who may be looking for players to immediatly jump to the character catyegory to see if the character fits what they may require for an adventure.
  2. I suspect this is the real reason for concern :-)

I see Categories as good things, the more there are the more the Wiki becomes a web of links and information rather than a hierarchy. Entries on the Wikipedia for example often have 10-20 categories, the only time I see it might be a problem is if there are more category links than content, but at the moment on this Wiki, that is more likely to indicate a need for more content on a topic :-) --Mandos 08:03, 5 Nov 2007 (NZDT)
