Gen-Z DQers

Hi there, my children have started playing DQ, and I thought to make a "second generation player" sort of page to list their characters and mini-adventures, which other kids could then add into (e.g. Jeff, Stephen). I think they should be kept separate from the adult characters, because some of the items and ranking is a bit looser than the usual guild characters (mainly the one's from Jeff's adventures ;) ). Do other people think they should be kept separate also? Should this be discussed on the email lists - 'cos I don't subscribe any more, so don't know if they're still going.

Should there be a different category or subcategory for their characters? Could someone who knows this stuff please start a page for them? Character names are Ferik and Martenay. --Hannah 18:28, 18 Jun 2009 (NZST)

Our kids have started playing in an 'Alternate Universe' running about 8 years behind in game time so Lisa and I can re-use campaign events and games. Their adventures are not bound to the 3 month sessions and don't follow standard xp and loot guidelines (needs to be faster progression for them). Their characters will never be part of the standard campaign so they aren't on the wiki. Potentially we could set up an alternate wiki but I don't see the need. -- Stephen 17:26, 19 Jun 2009 (NZST)

Category Discussion

Having two seperate list of names (those that are sub-cats and those that are articles) is a bit ugly. Suggestions?

  1. Maybe don't make character categories sub cats of Character, but put the 'main' page for the character in Cat:Characters? So the only subc ats are things like 'Skill' and 'College'? --Errol 14:06, 7 Jun 2007 (NZST)

Better solution. Get People to write more about there characters :-) The more they put in the greater need for a category :-) Mandos 14:41, 7 Jun 2007 (NZST)

Errol's suggestion sounds good to me. Keeps it clean. Only issue could be those who use a category page as their main page. --Stephen 15:11, 7 Jun 2007 (NZST)

I think that is probably just me at the moment. I can switch back, I just thought I would give it a try :-) --Mandos 15:34, 7 Jun 2007 (NZST)

The thought (main page is the cat page) occured to me too, but we do have sub-cats of characters that are usefully seperated from the list of actual characters. Worth trying out to see if any non-obvious pros or cons come to light, however. Can you put a category on a Redirect page? (I think effectively not) --Errol 15:52, 7 Jun 2007 (NZST)
