Description
Brocken Spectres are a type of Spectre, undead beings half of this world and half of another plane. They enter this world most fully in fog and may disappear entirely in clear air. Unlike most Spectres, they merely fade away when exposed to direct sunlight. Brocken Spectres are humanoid in shape, but are rarely seen as more than a blurred outline in the mist.
Comments
The characteristics and power of spectres varies in direct proportion to their substantiality. The same spectre that has a PS of 3 in light haze would have a PS of 25-30 in deep fog. A spectre cannot physically harm a character while insubstantial. They can perform magic. While in fog, mist, haze, or spray, the Brocken Spectre may choose whether to be insubstantial. It takes a spectre 1 minute to change between these forms. Brocken Spectres can only be harmed by sealing them in an area of fog then destroying the fog, or by magic. Magic does not affect spectres while incorporeal.
Abilities
Spectres may possess the entire gamut of human talents and skills. They are also Illusionists or Shadow Celestials, or occasionally Water Adepts. Their touch is moist and chilly, and any character coming in contact with a spectre will be drained. A character who dies by being drained by a spectre becomes a half-strength spectre.
