Mim the Pilgrim

A small backwater across the sea from Sanctuary - a town named Bitter. A bored girl called Mîm - called the Pilgrim by her parents, because she was always looking for something - somewhere else. Anywhere but Bitter.

What did the parents do? Some unimportant jobs - the elf could never remember. When they thought the time was right, they got her a job in rich house - maid to the Mistress. When she could, Mîm spent time giggling with the Mistress's daughter - sharing their fascination with piercings, tattoos and forbidden magic - and above all Drow. The danger of the underground race was seductive.

Dorn the Drow

Secret news of a Drow in town made them tingle from head to toe. Dorn was kinda dishevelled - but cute as. She and some other young elves paid a few silvers to be entertained with a few stories. Dorn seemed very interested in the rich houses of the town.

Chain clad elves came pounding down the dark basement stairs. As Dorn lithely escaped through a street level window, Mîm made a life decision - and followed. A guardsman grabbed her legs, but she twisted free, following the Drow through darkened streets - exhilaration in her heart. Exhilaration cut short by a second patrol - the elf saw the inside of a cell for the first time in her life. Parents were sent for.

Mîm squeezed through a window not designed to stop a slim elf and found Dorn's window. The adventure continued. For the first time she felt the caress of Drow magic and their combined strength let them remove bars.

...on the Road

Six months they travelled from village to village with Dorn's two partners in crime - for thieves they were. Exciting times. Trieste and Jint where a couple - she a thief & assassin and he a master of dark celestial magic. Mîm learned much from them. The skill she enjoyed most was the dance. Never a classic elvish beauty, she found she could easily hold the attention of village men - important to distract them from the others' activities. Dorn taught Mîm more intimate arts.

As winter ended, a roughly sketched 'wanted' poster was a sign of the end - that town avoided. Finally a job went wrong and Trieste had to use her deadly skills - and the heat was on. The gang split - and she and Dorn boarded a ship to Seagate. Dorn left soon after with Mîm's carefully hoarded earnings, a bag with his 50 silver piece fee - and most of her clothes.

...on the Ocean

Mîm awoke a day later with a pounding head and chains - and a burning need never to be exploited again. That need drove her to action. Ignoring the pleas of the other young things in the hold, her dark magic enhanced strength broke her bounds and she sought out the captain. Drifting silently and imperceptibly through the ship she avoided the dwarven and goblin crew - ghosted past the swarthy hobgoblin guarding the door of the best cabin in the ship.

Yes, Gorak was surprised from slumber by Mîm. Mîm was surprised when the barbarian pirate captain bit her - with surprisingly sharp teeth. From such a start, they were both surprised how well the rest of the night passed.

Mîm spent spring and summer at Gorak's side. They had times of intense excitement pillaging passing merchant ships - and times of more relaxed excitement. The crew didn't like Mîm - and took any opportunity for an 'accidental' knock or trip. They were scum - and Mîm always had her revenge. On her last ocean boarding she let her blood lust get the better of her. As was her preference, she sought out the merchant captain in his cabin. She was forced to kill him as there was no other way to deal with the plate mail armoured meat head.

Sanctuary

Angered by the loss of a ransom, Gorak gave in to his mutinous scum crew and put her ashore in Sanctuary - a name which comforted her, despite the stories that were told.

It felt like home.
