The lifeforce/soul of a non-sentient animal was trapped in a "True Blue". This is a small lifelike model of the animal in an opaque blue stone.

A ritual to transfer this lifeforce/soul into the adventurer's sub-conscious has been performed. The soul is normally unnoticeable (and the effects listed below do not apply) but it can brought to the forefront (or returned to the background) by casting the following spell. This spell is a non-colleged special knowledge which is known at rank 0 when the transfer ritual is complete.

Spell of Enhance/Diminish Animal Mind

Effects: This spell allows the caster to enhance the consciousness of the Animal so that it is accessible to the caster. This will have a number of effects specified below. When the spell ends the consciousness fades back into the caster's sub-conscious. This spell may be ended before the duration by casting it a second time.

General Effects

For the 1st few minutes it feels like two entities in the caster's head, but the caster is in control and is the only one who can initiate anything. The second personality then fades somewhat into the background. The caster gains all the memories and animal instincts of the original animal. The caster may act on the animal's instincts and behavioural patterns or chose to suppress them (except as specified below).

Specific Effects

These vary with the animal that has been transferred.

Basilisk

The basilisk was a very large slow moving lizard with strong jaws. It ate fisherman or fish, and is very greedy for food. It was slowed in the cold. It's habitat was warm coastal wetlands and was solitary in nature.

  1. Perception modifier of -5 (reduced by 1 / 4 Ranks) as you are mildly distracted by the 2nd entity in you head.
  2. TMR and MD modifiers of -1 each unless the temperature is over 30deg.
  3. Natural Armour of 1 /5 ranks (Darien's instance upgraded to Damage Reduction by Queen of the Djinn).
  4. You may cast the Instant Petrification spell of the Binder College. This is initially at Rank 0, but while enhanced you may rank it as per the Binder special knowledge spell, and these ranks will be retained by the Basilisk.
  5. Defence modifier of +1 for every 5 Ranks (minimum 1) against reptiles.
  6. If you are somehow turned into a basilisk will also be able to use all the usual abilities of this animal.

Minotaur

The minotaur is a crepuscular two legged animal with a bovine head, horns and tail. It's aggressively territorial and wants to attack anything human sized or smaller. It lived caverns in a forested region, and shies from direct light.

  1. Perception modifier of -5 (reduced by 1 / 4 Ranks) as you are mildly distracted by the 2nd entity in you head.
  2. In any confrontation you will never wait for the opposition but will always attack first.
  3. Strength modifier of + 1 / 2 Ranks.
  4. Knows Ranger (Caverns) at rank 1 / 2 Ranks.
  5. The ability to see in twilight as if it is daylight (up to 50% light as per the Celestial Lighting Table)
  6. You gain a special attack Headbutt with weapon rank = spell Rank/4
