Ujjain is the capital of the Avanti Kingdom in the Maryn Consociation.

Overview

It is the residence of Manas, the viceroy or Mara of the western provinces of the Maryn empire. The city also marks the first meridian of longitude in Maryn geography. Ujjain is presently also the capital of Raja Chandra Gupta II, also known as Vikra Maditya, at whose court the nine poets known as the nine jewels flourish. In previous reigns, mathematics was patronised rather than poetry, and Ujjain was a major centre of mathematical and astronomical research. The earliest references to the city, as Ujjaini, are from the time of Calathiel, when it was made the capital of the western provinces.
